National Observatory Proposed by Heritage Conference in Algiers

The International Conference on the promotion of elements of heritage inscribed on UNESCO's lists for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage concluded its proceedings on Tuesday in Algiers. The two-day event, held from September 28-29, brought together participants to discuss crucial aspects of cultural preservation.

A significant outcome of the conference was the adoption of several recommendations, notably the call for the establishment of a national observatory dedicated to intangible heritage. This initiative aims to enhance the safeguarding and promotion of Algeria's rich cultural traditions and practices.

The proposed national observatory underscores Algeria's commitment to preserving its diverse intangible cultural patrimony, aligning with international efforts to protect heritage listed by UNESCO. This step is expected to further institutionalize efforts towards documenting, researching, and valorizing cultural elements for future generations.
