New Mechanism Explored for Fruit, Vegetable Market Tracking

An inter-ministerial council, chaired by Prime Minister Seifi Gharib, recently convened to address the regulation of markets and the protection of citizens' purchasing power. The meeting focused on studying the integration of wholesale fruit and vegetable market agents into a new daily monitoring mechanism. This initiative directly implements directives issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during a recent Council of Ministers meeting, which called for adjusting prices of various widely consumed goods.

The new mechanism is designed for the daily monitoring of prices and the availability of essential consumer goods nationwide. Its primary objective is to foster transparency and enable the tracking of products and materials from the producer directly to the consumer. This structured approach also aims to ensure a regular supply of goods at carefully considered prices for the benefit of consumers.

During the council, concerns and proposals from representatives of wholesale fruit and vegetable agents and traders were heard. This participatory approach, involving relevant ministers, the President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, and the President of the General Union of Algerian Traders and Craftsmen, seeks to organize the marketing of these products within a structured framework. The collaborative effort underscores a commitment to enhancing market efficiency and consumer confidence across the nation.
