Over 80 Kilograms of Cocaine Seized in Tamanrasset Operation

Detachments of the Algerian National People's Army (ANP) in the Tamanrasset Military Sector successfully eliminated one drug trafficker and arrested four other armed individuals during an operation conducted on Wednesday. This action led to the seizure of over 80 kilograms of cocaine, preventing a significant quantity of illicit substances from entering the country.
The anti-narcotics operation, which resulted from optimal intelligence exploitation, also recovered a substantial cache of weaponry. This included an FMPK machine gun, a Kalashnikov-type submachine gun, and a considerable quantity of ammunition, alongside four mobile phones. The seized cocaine was found loaded aboard three utility vehicles, highlighting the scale of the trafficking attempt.
According to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, these field results underscore the relevance of the High Command's approach to combating smuggling and organized crime. The successful intervention reaffirms the vigilance of all ANP units and their unwavering determination to thwart attempts by criminals aiming to infiltrate the nation with toxic substances, thereby securing national borders.
