Prime Minister Establishes Daily Essential Goods Price Monitoring

In an effort to implement presidential directives focused on regulating the prices of widely consumed goods and safeguarding citizens' purchasing power, the Prime Minister chaired a joint ministerial council meeting on 20 October 2026. The meeting saw the attendance of several concerned ministers, alongside the President of the National Chamber of Agriculture and the President of the General Union of Algerian Merchants and Craftsmen, as well as representatives from wholesale fruit and vegetable market agents.
The central focus of the session was to explore the integration of these wholesale market agents into a new, comprehensive mechanism designed for the daily monitoring of both prices and availability of essential consumer goods across the entire country. Participants in the meeting had the opportunity to present their concerns and proposals regarding the organization of fruit and vegetable marketing, which were duly considered.
This initiative adopts a participatory approach, with the explicit goals of enhancing transparency and ensuring the effective tracking of products from their origin at the producer to the end consumer. The mechanism is intended to guarantee a regular supply of goods at carefully considered prices, ultimately benefiting Algerian consumers by stabilizing the market and supporting their purchasing power.
