Prime Minister Ghrieb Reviews Basic Product Price Monitoring

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb recently presided over a joint inter-ministerial council meeting dedicated to reviewing the national mechanism for daily monitoring of prices and availability of essential consumer products. This initiative aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's instructions issued during a recent Council of Ministers meeting, which emphasized regulating the prices of widely consumed goods to safeguard citizens' purchasing power.

The council specifically examined the modalities for wholesale fruit and vegetable market agents to integrate into this new monitoring system. Discussions also addressed concerns and proposals from representatives of these agents and wholesalers, particularly concerning the structured organization of commercialization. The overarching aim is to enhance transparency and ensure comprehensive product traceability throughout the distribution chain, from producers to consumers.

This participatory approach seeks to guarantee the regular availability of products at controlled prices, ultimately serving the interests of the consumer. The meeting saw the attendance of relevant ministers, alongside the president of the National Chamber of Agriculture, the president of the General Union of Algerian Traders and Artisans (UGCAA), and representatives from wholesale fruit and vegetable market agents.
