School Exam, Holiday Dates Set for Algerian Students
The Ministry of National Education has unveiled the official calendar for quarterly examinations and school holidays for the 2026-2027 academic year. This comprehensive schedule applies to all three education cycles: primary, middle, and secondary. The ministry emphasizes the importance of adhering to this calendar to ensure the smooth progress of the school year, optimize teaching time, and foster an environment conducive to academic success for students across public and private educational institutions.
For primary cycle students, the first quarter exams are scheduled from December 6 to 10, 2026, with the second quarter exams taking place on March 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, 2027, and the third quarter exams from May 23 to 27, 2027. Similarly, students in the first, second, and third years of the middle education cycle will have their first quarter exams from December 6 to 10, 2026, second quarter exams on March 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, 2027, and third quarter exams from May 23 to 27, 2027. The fourth year middle school examinations are set for May 9 to 11, 2027.
In the secondary education cycle, first and second-year students will follow the same first and second quarter exam schedule as their primary and middle school counterparts: December 6-10, 2026, and March 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, 2027, respectively. Their third quarter examinations are scheduled from May 23 to 27, 2027. Third-year secondary students will undergo their third quarter examinations from May 9 to 13, 2027. The announced school holidays include autumn from the evening of October 27 to the morning of November 2, 2026; winter from the evening of December 17, 2026, to the morning of January 3, 2027; and spring from the evening of March 18 to the morning of April 4, 2027. Summer holidays will commence after the completion of third-quarter exams, remedial sessions, and collective corrections.
Furthermore, the annual leave for teaching staff across all regions is designated to begin from the evening of Thursday, July 8, 2027. Administrative personnel in zones one and two will commence their annual leave from the evening of Thursday, July 22, 2027, while those in zone three will start from the evening of Thursday, July 15, 2027. This comprehensive calendar aims to provide clarity and facilitate effective planning for all members of the educational community, ensuring an organized academic year ahead.
