Smart Airport Initiative Progresses for Enhanced Traveler Experience

The modernization project for Algiers international airport is progressing, according to a recent update from the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport. Named "Smart Airport," the initiative focuses on integrating advanced digital solutions and modern technologies to enhance the airport's infrastructure. This comprehensive transformation is designed to elevate the quality of services and improve the overall experience for travelers using the facility.
A key aspect of this modernization includes the acquisition of ten new millimeter-wave body scanners, for which a national and international tender has been launched. These state-of-the-art scanners are intended to reinforce security controls by detecting concealed objects, forming part of a wider effort to renew control equipment and update airport installations. Other planned developments encompass intelligent electronic gates, advanced inspection and control systems, and rapid scanners for baggage.
Further enhancements within the "Smart Airport" program involve the digitization of various procedures and the exploration of technologies such as facial recognition. These measures aim to streamline the passenger journey, reduce waiting times, and facilitate different stages of airport transit. The Ministry continues to emphasize the importance of regular project monitoring and evaluation to ensure the successful realization of all stated objectives.
