Tourism Ministry, Italy Collaborate on Digital Platform

Algeria's Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries is set to launch a new digital platform, "My Temple Art," in technical cooperation with Italy. This project aims to internationally promote Algeria as a diverse tourist destination, leveraging Italian expertise in information technology, tourism, and cultural marketing. The initiative follows a series of technical discussions and a recent meeting on October 1, 2026, between Houria Madahi, the Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industries, and Gianni Paschetto, the Italian CEO of "My Temple Art," alongside Karim Benadjoud, an Algerian official for CK Cooperation residing in Italy. This collaboration is linked to the strong bilateral relations and ongoing consultation mechanisms between Algeria and Italy, with Minister Madahi affirming the ministry's readiness to support the project in coordination with diplomatic channels.

The digital platform will highlight Algeria's extensive natural and cultural heritage, including its desert, thermal, cultural, ecological, coastal, and spiritual attractions. Specialized content is planned to present various sites such as the Tassili N'Ajjer, renowned for its over 15,000 rock carvings, along with significant archaeological sites like Timgad, Djemila, and Tipasa. The project's concept, which originated from Karim Benadjoud, an Algerian expatriate in Italy, emphasizes utilizing the expertise of the Algerian diaspora. This approach is designed to provide precise and engaging information tailored to diverse traveler interests, benefiting from Italy's established experience in cultural tourism marketing and the historical ties between Algerian archaeological sites and Mediterranean civilizations.

In addition to attracting tourists, the platform will serve as a tool to engage Italian and European investors by presenting various investment opportunities within Algeria's tourism sector. Data from the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency indicates 262 registered tourism investment projects, valued at approximately 247 billion dinars, with an expectation of creating 15,140 direct jobs between November 2022 and April 2026. The effectiveness of the "My Temple Art" platform will depend on its ability to connect promotional content with practical services, offering accurate, updated, and multilingual information, mobile accessibility, and direct links to local services. This integrated approach will involve various stakeholders, including tourism enterprises, craftspeople, and cultural site managers, in content creation and updates.
