Eastern Algeria Blanketed by Overnight Snowfall

Constantine – Several eastern provinces of Algeria experienced significant snowfall overnight from Friday into Saturday, November 22, 2025. The unseasonal weather event has impacted transportation and daily life across the region.

The snowfall, which began late Friday, continued throughout the night and into Saturday morning, accumulating to varying depths depending on the specific location and altitude. While the picturesque scenery has been welcomed by some, the heavy snow has presented challenges for commuters and travelers.

Authorities in Mila province have confirmed that public works departments are actively engaged in clearing roads and ensuring the free flow of traffic. Heavy machinery and personnel have been deployed to remove snow and ice from key routes, particularly those connecting major cities and towns within the affected region.

DZWatch urges residents in eastern Algeria to exercise caution while traveling and to stay informed about weather updates and road conditions. Drivers are advised to reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance, and ensure their vehicles are properly equipped for winter conditions.

The snowfall is expected to continue sporadically throughout the day. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
