Moscow, Algiers Declarations Align on Gas Market Stability
Algeria and Russia are reinforcing strategic ties, with declarations from recent summits converging on natural gas as a key resource for market stability. Algeria aims to leverage its geographical position to act as a bridge between Africa, Europe, and the world.

Algeria and Russia are reinforcing their strategic ties, with recent declarations highlighting a shared vision for international relations and energy market stability. Through these strengthened links, Algeria aims to leverage its geographical position and structural projects to consolidate its role as a bridge connecting Africa, Europe, and the wider world.
This strategic alignment was evident during the 8th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Moscow, where the adopted Declaration of Moscow echoed the sentiments of the Declaration of Algiers from the 7th GECF Summit held earlier in March 2024. Both declarations underscored natural gas as an essential energy resource, vital for addressing global energy challenges and securing future supplies.
The declarations reflect a commitment to fostering market stability, defending shared interests, and promoting strategic dialogue among natural gas industry stakeholders. While the Algiers declaration emphasized natural gas as an abundant, affordable, reliable, and clean source for energy transition and combating energy poverty, the Moscow declaration reiterated the imperative for intensified collaboration among gas-producing nations to ensure global energy security and fair prices for the resource.
