Nigerien Market Entry Explored by Saidal Group
Younes Bouarara, Director General of the Algerian pharmaceutical group Saidal, met with Aminou Malam Manzo, the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Algeria, in Algiers to discuss strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry. The discussions focused on ways to enhance partnership between the two nations, particularly through the provision of essential medicines produced locally in Algeria. This meeting was a direct response to a request from Nigerien authorities and aligns with directives from high authorities in both countries to revive strategic cooperation in the health sector.
Key areas of cooperation examined included the expedited supply of essential pharmaceutical products from Algeria to meet Nigerien market demands. Furthermore, the two parties explored prospects for establishing a durable strategic partnership, which would encompass the transfer of Algerian pharmaceutical technology and expertise, alongside training and qualifying Nigerien professionals. There was also discussion about potentially producing medicines for the Nigerien market within Algerian industrial units, pending the development and reinforcement of local pharmaceutical production infrastructure in Niger.
Mr. Bouarara presented Saidal's strategic projects, including initiatives for producing raw materials for medicines, which are integral to Algeria's vision for bolstering national pharmaceutical industry capabilities and ensuring pharmaceutical sovereignty. This broader effort supports the expansion of Algerian pharmaceutical products into African markets and contributes to the development of an integrated continental pharmaceutical industrial system.
