New Wali Jamal Bouzgaa Appointed in Bir El Ater

Bir El Ater has been officially elevated to the status of a full wilaya, a decision that includes the appointment of Jamal Bouzgaa as its new Wali. This administrative change is part of a partial movement within the body of Walis, which was approved by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Urban Development, Saïd Sayoud, presided over the installation ceremony, signifying a key moment in the region's governance.

During the ceremony, Minister Sayoud underscored that Bir El Ater's promotion to a full-fledged wilaya inaugurates a new era dedicated to strengthening development and addressing the aspirations of its citizens. He conveyed President Tebboune's greetings to the residents, emphasizing that this decision is expected to enhance the region's standing and unlock broader opportunities for growth. Sayoud further noted the historical progression of Bir El Ater from a municipality to a delegated wilaya, and now to a full wilaya, recognizing this as a significant milestone for the area.

The Minister highlighted Bir El Ater's considerable economic potential, pointing to existing assets such as the Djebel El Anq mine and a cement factory, alongside promising projects in glass, pipes, and mills. He also referenced the ongoing railway line project designed to transport phosphates and passengers, which is set to boost economic activity and attract new investment. Sayoud explained that establishing Bir El Ater as a full wilaya will result in its own budget, distinct from Tébessa, thereby expanding the scope for local projects and development initiatives. He stressed the imperative of translating this promotion into tangible developmental outcomes and improved living conditions for residents, particularly within this border region, which holds significant developmental, economic, and security importance.
