German Official Hails Algeria as Essential Energy Partner

Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab recently hosted Frank Wetzel, the German State Secretary for Economic Affairs and Energy, in Algiers. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding partnership prospects between the two nations, with a specific emphasis on the hydrocarbon sector. Attendees included Sonatrach CEO Nour Eddine Daoudi, President of ALNAFT Abdelkader Cherfaoui, and representatives from German companies such as Bosch, Siemens Energy, VNG, and Thyssenkrupp Nucera. During discussions, Mr. Wetzel praised Algeria as a central and essential energy partner.
Discussions between the Algerian and German delegations covered various avenues for cooperation. These included the oil and gas industry, engineering, infrastructure development, and the launch of joint projects in advanced industrial technologies relevant to the hydrocarbon sector. The talks also explored promoting local content within these industries and adopting low-carbon technologies. Further areas of mutual interest encompassed the development, production, and marketing of green ammonia, along with the manufacturing of associated equipment.
Minister Arkab emphasized the significance of the partnership with Germany for realizing priority projects. He reiterated the Algerian hydrocarbon sector's readiness to provide all necessary facilities and support to German companies interested in investing in Algeria.
