National Delegation Reports Drop in Road Insecurity

The National Delegation for Road Safety has revealed a notable decrease in all road insecurity indicators across Algeria during the first eight months of 2026. This positive trend was announced in a special report on traffic accidents, highlighting improved safety on the nation's roads compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

During the January-August period of 2026, a total of 18,297 bodily injury traffic accidents were recorded, representing a decrease of 89 incidents from the previous year. Furthermore, the number of fatalities resulting from road accidents saw a reduction of 71 cases, and the total number of injuries decreased by 511 cases, demonstrating tangible progress in accident prevention and public safety.

The announcement of these significant reductions was made during the launch of a national campaign aimed at familiarizing citizens with the provisions of the new traffic law. The consistent decline in these key indicators underscores the effectiveness of national efforts and ongoing initiatives to enhance road safety and mitigate risks for all road users in Algeria.
