Alnaft Targets Global Investors for “Algeria Bid Round 2026”

The National Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Valorization (Alnaft) is participating in the African Energy Week conference and exhibition, held from October 12 to 16 in Cape Town, South Africa. Alnaft's primary objective at this international event is to promote the "Algeria Bid Round 2026" and attract foreign investors to the nation's hydrocarbon sector. This participation aligns with Algeria's broader strategy to expand its base of energy partners and secure additional foreign investment in crucial upstream activities.

The "Algeria Bid Round 2026," initially launched in April, offers seven exploration blocks for investment. Approximately 60 international energy companies have already expressed interest in participating in the bidding process. The round's timeline sets January 25, 2027, as the date for submitting offers and opening envelopes, with hydrocarbon contracts to be signed with Sonatrach by March 31 of the same year.

To facilitate investor participation, Alnaft opened virtual data rooms in June, marking the first use of such a digital platform for a hydrocarbon bid round in Algeria. This innovative approach allows qualified investors remote access to technical data related to the offered blocks, aiding in their preparation before the data rooms close on November 30. Furthermore, a dedicated session at the African Energy Week will delve into the bid round, Algeria's exploration potential, and advancements in the upstream investment framework, providing a direct channel for communication with prospective investors.
