$18.5 Billion Allocated for Algerian Social Subsidies in 2027 Finance Bill

The Algerian government has proposed an allocation of $18.5 billion, equivalent to 2,414.15 billion dinars, for social transfers to individuals within its 2027 Finance Bill (PLF 2027). This significant financial commitment is intended to bolster citizens' purchasing power and fund various social benefits. Minister of Finance, Mohammed Lamine Lebbou, presented these details on October 12, 2026, to the finance and budget committee of the National People's Assembly.
A substantial portion of these funds, specifically 717.7 billion dinars, is earmarked for subsidizing essential consumer products, including cereals and milk, with cereals alone receiving 355.84 billion dinars. Furthermore, the bill allocates 210 billion dinars for unemployment benefits and 158 billion dinars to support the integration of local government employees. These provisions underscore the government's focus on direct support mechanisms for the population.
These measures within the 2027 Finance Bill are aligned with the government's broader strategy to enhance economic growth, diversify the national economy, and support productive investment while preserving citizens' purchasing power and strengthening social cohesion. The extensive allocations are presented in a context marked by global economic uncertainties and inflationary pressures, demonstrating Algeria's commitment to ensuring social progress and economic stability for its citizens.
