Minister Khaldi Oversees “Baladna Algérie” Bovine Import Preparations

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries, Sid Ali Khaldi, visited Adrar on Monday, October 19, 2026, to monitor the progress of the integrated powdered milk production project, "Baladna Algérie". The visit specifically focused on the preparations for receiving imported bovines, a strategic step within the project. Upon his arrival at Adrar’s Sheikh Sidi Mohamed Ben Lekbir Airport, Minister Khaldi was greeted by the Governor of Adrar, Fodil Douifi, along with the President of the Provincial People's Assembly, security committee members, parliamentarians, and key executives from the "Baladna Algérie" company.
During his inspection, Minister Khaldi, accompanied by Governor Douifi, toured Plot No. 1 designated for the powdered milk factory in the Timimoune municipality. He received a detailed technical presentation outlining the project's components, objectives, and implementation phases, while also observing the ongoing construction work. The Minister issued directives concerning project follow-up and emphasized the importance of coordination among all relevant sectors and bodies to ensure the project's successful execution within established timelines and objectives.
This field visit underscores the direct oversight of strategic investment projects in Adrar, aiming to advance the milk sector, bolster national production capabilities, and leverage the region's agricultural potential to strengthen national food security and sustainable economic development. The arrival of imported bovines is a critical preparatory stage for the project, providing the necessary livestock for production operations. Minister Khaldi specifically inspected a quarantine site designated for these bovines, a measure intended to secure imports and protect national livestock. The sequential arrival of these bovines is anticipated to commence in November 2026.
