National Production Meets 84% of Medicine Needs

Algeria has achieved an 84% self-sufficiency rate in its medication production, significantly reducing the nation's reliance on imports. This substantial progress encompasses the manufacturing of complex medicines, specifically including treatments for diabetes and cancer patients, marking a key milestone in the country's healthcare independence.
This current production level represents a notable increase compared to previous years, when the average production rate for medicines ranged between only 9% and 10%. The robust growth in domestic pharmaceutical output aligns with broader national efforts to strengthen local production across various sectors and curtail the volume of imported goods.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune highlighted this achievement as part of the ongoing transformation of the national economy. The President affirmed that 2027 is envisioned as a pivotal year for economic development, emphasizing the bolstering of national production, a decrease in imports, and a sustained focus on the state's social responsibilities. This strategic direction aims to foster a stronger, more resilient economy while ensuring access to essential goods and services for citizens.
