Algiers Dialogue Deepens Ties with Bangladesh Across Key Sectors

Algerian Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, hosted Humayun Kabir, Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Acting Foreign Minister, in Algiers. The meeting also included Bangladesh's Minister of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, highlighting a shared commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. This high-level engagement served as a platform to review the current state of cooperation between Algeria and Bangladesh, outlining clear pathways for its future strengthening and expansion.

Discussions primarily centered on fostering a more dynamic and diversified economic partnership across several strategic sectors. Key areas identified for intensified collaboration include energy, trade, the pharmaceutical industry, and the textile sector. Both nations underscored the importance of activating and reinforcing existing institutional mechanisms for bilateral cooperation, which will facilitate preparations for upcoming joint meetings and commitments. Algeria also expressed its readiness to share expertise and cooperate in the energy and fertilizer sectors, including the potential import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Beyond economic matters, Minister Attaf and State Minister Kabir engaged in comprehensive exchanges on significant regional and international issues. Both officials emphasized the necessity of bolstering multilateral action and coordination within international bodies. This diplomatic dialogue took on added significance given Bangladesh's current presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, underscoring a shared commitment to addressing global challenges through collaborative efforts. The meetings reflect a mutual desire from both Algiers and Dhaka to consolidate their bilateral ties, broaden economic cooperation, and enhance diplomatic coordination on matters of common interest.
