Algeria, Czech Republic Sign Four Deals to Boost Economic and Energy Ties
ALGIERS — Algeria and the Czech Republic signed Monday in Algiers four memorandums of understanding aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation across industry, mining, renewable energy, and trade.
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš met with Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb at the Government Palace during an official visit leading a high-level diplomatic and business delegation. Both leaders co-chaired the signing ceremony designed to deepen economic relations between North Africa‘s largest economy and Central Europe.
Speaking at a joint press briefing following the talks, Ghrieb emphasized that the agreements mark a strategic step toward diversifying bilateral partnerships. He highlighted joint prospects in geological mapping, critical mineral exploration, and clean energy development.
Babiš reaffirmed Prague’s intent to strengthen commercial ties with Algiers, noting that Czech firms are eager to invest in the Algerian market. The visit coincided with a joint business forum at the El Aurassi Hotel, bringing together investors and enterprise leaders from both nations to explore concrete joint ventures.
The bilateral agreements also encompass technical cooperation in agriculture, civil protection, and cultural exchange.
