Key Southern Railway Link Progresses After Wali Inspection

The Wali of El Menea, Ben Malek Mokhtar, recently conducted a field visit to inspect the route of a strategic railway project. This initiative, part of a national program to develop and modernize transport infrastructure and strengthen the railway network, aligns with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The project aims to link the wilayas of Laghouat, Ghardaïa, El Menea, In Salah, and Tamanrasset. During the inspection, the Wali, accompanied by the regional gendarmerie commander and the railway project director, reviewed preparations and the readiness of logistical and technical resources.

The field assessment encompassed the project's starting point and its associated life base. The Wali examined various technical, logistical, and administrative aspects, emphasizing the timely completion of preparations and the importance of close coordination among all stakeholders. He stressed the need for continuous monitoring of preparatory stages, proactive resolution of potential obstacles, and adherence to technical standards and deadlines. These measures are crucial to ensure smooth progress, given the project's significant developmental and strategic importance.

The Laghouat-Ghardaïa-El Menea-In Salah-Tamanrasset railway project is deemed strategically vital for expanding the national transport network and enhancing connectivity between Algeria's north and south. It is expected to create new opportunities for the movement of people and goods, thereby contributing to economic and commercial activity and supporting investment projects. Furthermore, the initiative is designed to bolster sustainable development across the southern wilayas, integrate them more fully into the national transport network, and reinforce socio-economic dynamism. This project is a key component of state efforts to alleviate isolation in southern regions, boost their investment attractiveness, and foster balanced national development, with ongoing field monitoring ensuring its progression aligns with set objectives.
