Algeria’s Hormuz Transit Secure, Mediation Offered by Tebboune

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed the unhindered passage of Algerian oil vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that these transits occur without any problems. During a televised interview, the President stated that Algeria maintains robust and balanced relations with various international powers, explicitly denying any strain in its ties with Russia. This stance reflects Algeria's consistent commitment to an independent foreign policy.
Highlighting Algeria's active role on the global stage, President Tebboune articulated the nation's readiness to provide mediation and assistance upon request from any country. He noted that Algeria is widely respected by international powers for its efforts in fostering stability and peace, a recognition affirmed by the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for Algeria's responsible approach. The country also actively works to mitigate the effects of disruptions impacting the energy sector.
President Tebboune further clarified that Algerian-Russian relations are built on a strong foundation of friendship, with potential for deeper economic cooperation and integration. He stressed that Algeria will not compromise its relationships with any major global power, including Russia, the United States, and China, maintaining an equal distance from all parties. The presence of diverse international companies, including Russian, American, and Chinese entities, engaged in exploration within Algeria, is considered a normal aspect of the nation's strategy to protect its interests through cooperation.
