Algiers Hub Expands With Direct Flights to Shanghai, Lagos

Air Algérie has recently expanded its international network with the inauguration of five new direct routes from Algiers, launched between October 25 and 28. These new additions include services to Conakry, Brazzaville, Lagos, Shanghai, and Tripoli. A significant element of this expansion is the new connection to Shanghai, China, which will operate three times weekly utilizing an Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
The direct Algiers-Shanghai-Pudong flight, which commenced on October 26, is scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. This new route integrates Shanghai into Air Algérie's existing Chinese network, which already includes Beijing and Canton. The expansion also significantly enhances connectivity with Sub-Saharan Africa, with services to Conakry, Guinea, commencing on October 25, and Brazzaville, Congo, beginning on October 26. Nigeria will see two weekly triangular rotations to Lagos via Abuja, starting October 29. These new routes are part of Air Algérie's objective to develop connections between Algeria and Africa, leveraging Algiers as a central transit hub.
Beyond Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, the airline has also launched service to Tripoli, Libya, since October 28. In the Middle East, flights to Doha have become daily since October 25, following their resumption in late September, and a weekly rotation to Kuwait via Amman is now available. This network expansion is supported by the ongoing renewal of Air Algérie's fleet, which has already received six of the ten anticipated Airbus A330-900s and three of its ten Boeing 737 MAX 8s. Further orders include ten 737 MAX 9s and sixteen ATR 72-600s designated for its subsidiary, Domestic Airlines.
