Joint detachments of the Algerian National Popular Army (ANP) conducted a successful operation in Béchar on October 1 and 2, 2026, leading to the neutralization of a drug trafficker. This decisive action also resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of treated drugs, totaling 1,660 kilograms, significantly undermining illicit narcotics networks.

The operation further uncovered and confiscated three field glasses, used to facilitate clandestine activities. This comprehensive intervention thwarted two distinct attempts to smuggle a considerable amount of narcotics into the territory, highlighting the vigilance of the ANP in securing the nation's borders and internal stability.

The substantial volume of drugs intercepted underscores the persistent efforts of ANP units across the country in combating organized crime. This operation in the Third Military Region demonstrates the Algerian military's unwavering commitment to disrupting illicit activities and preventing the proliferation of harmful substances within Algeria.
