Attaf Attends AU Meeting on UN Security Council Reform

Ahmed Attaf, Algeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 14th ministerial meeting of the African Union (AU) Committee of Ten (C10) in Tripoli, Libya. His attendance at this significant gathering was on the instruction of the President of the Republic. The meeting focused on the crucial issue of reforming the United Nations Security Council, a matter Algeria views as central to global governance.
The primary objective of the ministerial discussions was to address the historical imbalances within the global governance system and to ensure fair and equitable African representation on the UN Security Council. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the African Union to advance the reform process, aiming to correct existing disparities and empower the continent's voice on the international stage.
Algeria, through Minister Attaf's participation, actively supports the continent's aspirations for a more balanced multilateral system. This diplomatic engagement underscores the nation's commitment to its continental and international diplomatic role, working towards coordinating African positions and strengthening collective action to reform international decision-making mechanisms. This effort aligns with Africa's desire to assert its presence and influence in global affairs.
