Bilateral Trade Between Brazil and Algeria Expands to $2.3 Billion

Bilateral trade between Algeria and Brazil reached nearly $2.3 billion during the first eight months of 2026, marking a 4.6% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This figure, according to data from Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, highlights a significant expansion in economic relations between the two countries.
Algerian exports to the Brazilian market contributed $728.8 million to this total between January and August. Crude oil remained the leading Algerian export, generating $532.6 million. Additionally, nitrogen fertilisers accounted for $119.7 million in shipments, while refined petroleum products brought in $66.2 million. These energy products and fertilisers underscore the central role of hydrocarbons in the bilateral trade relationship.
Brazilian exports to Algeria amounted to $1.6 billion during the same period. Sugar shipments were notable at $445.6 million, closely followed by iron ore exports totaling $442.9 million. Brazil also supplied Algeria with significant quantities of agricultural products such as soybeans, maize, and beef.
These figures illustrate the breadth and complementary nature of commercial ties, spanning energy, fertilisers, agriculture, and mining products. With bilateral trade approaching $2.3 billion in just eight months, Algeria and Brazil continue to be important commercial partners, demonstrating substantial scope for further exchanges across a diverse range of sectors.
