Algeria's Ministry of Health has entered into a cooperation agreement with the German pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, aiming to significantly enhance the management and care provided for stroke (Accidents Vasculaires Cérébraux) and rare diseases nationwide. The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry's headquarters, was co-presided by Minister of Health Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene and Derek O’Leary, Boehringer Ingelheim's Regional General Manager for the India, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (IMETA) region. The agreement was formally signed by Souhila Lellou, Director of Care Programs, Ethics, and Medical Deontology at the Ministry of Health, and Samir Lahmek, Director of Boehringer Ingelheim Algeria.

This partnership is designed to bolster the Ministry's ongoing efforts in managing these priority health conditions. Key provisions of the agreement include supporting and strengthening the capacities of healthcare professionals across Algeria. Additionally, the initiative will facilitate the digitalization of the stroke management system, contributing to improved care pathways, enhanced coordination among various stakeholders, and the provision of higher quality services to patients.

The collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim aligns with the Ministry's broader strategic goals to develop comprehensive care pathways for priority diseases, elevate the quality of healthcare services, and promote crucial aspects such as prevention, early diagnosis, and integrated care.
