African Union Adopts Startup Summit Outcomes as Algiers Prepares for the 5th Edition
Minister Noureddine Ouadah announced the African Union's adoption of the startup summit's outcomes, as the 5th edition in Algiers focuses on deeptech to build digital sovereignty.

Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises Noureddine Ouadah announced that the African Union has adopted proposals and outcomes from the African Startup Conference, transforming them into official continental resolutions.
During a press conference in Algiers outlining details for the 5th edition of the conference scheduled from December 5 to 7, 2026, at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center the Minister stated that this milestone was marked by the endorsement in Addis Ababa of the 4th edition's outcomes, reflecting enhanced inter-African coordination. Centered on the theme "Deeptech: The Real Challenge," the upcoming edition occurs as African deeptech funding surges to $1.2 billion in 2023 compared to $86 million in 2015. The event aims to attract over 25,000 participants, more than 30 African deeptech startups, over 150 investors, more than 40 ministerial delegations, and over 100 international experts.
Discussions will focus on four main pillars to build sustainable technological independence: digital sovereignty and artificial intelligence, strategic resources and energy, health and human capital, and African women's entrepreneurship in deeptech. The program features three days of high-level dialogue among policymakers, investors, and innovators to yield actionable recommendations for the continental ecosystem.
