Government Outlines 2027 Finance Law for Economic Revival

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb chaired a government meeting this Wednesday, September 30, 2026, where officials reviewed the implementation of decisions previously adopted by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during the last Council of Ministers meeting. The session also centered on a comprehensive presentation of the draft Finance Law for 2027. This budget document is built on a clear directive to relaunch economic dynamics without creating fragility for households, aiming to stimulate growth, accelerate the transition from hydrocarbon dependence, and strategically direct capital towards the productive apparatus. A core commitment is the preservation of purchasing power, aligning with presidential instructions to ensure both economic performance and social protection.

Economic diversification remains a central theme within the 2027 Finance Law draft, with a reinforced focus on supporting non-petroleum sectors. The proposed legislation allocates significant funding to major projects identified for their strong socio-economic returns. Priorities for these investments include strengthening the national infrastructure network, enhancing land use planning, and actively working to reduce logistical costs, which have often been cited as a competitiveness challenge. This approach continues the executive's ongoing efforts to ensure the quality of public infrastructure projects.

On the social front, public resources are slated to continue supporting essential services, notably education, healthcare structures, housing, and basic facilities. For economic operators, the draft law introduces several provisions designed to make the entrepreneurial environment clearer and more efficient. These include supporting the full operationalization of the Single Investment Window. Furthermore, administrative reform is a key component, with objectives such as easing fiscal procedures, increasing the dematerialization of public services, and advancing digital transformation efforts across government operations. Following government review, the draft law will proceed for examination by President Tebboune at the forthcoming Council of Ministers meeting.
