Minister Khaldi Applauds Tissemsilt's Increased Grain Storage Capacity

Minister of Agriculture Sid Ali Khaldi commended the province of Tissemsilt for its enhanced grain storage capacities during a recent working visit. His praise followed the inauguration of new facilities and the launch of strategic projects designed to expand storage capabilities and bring collection structures closer to local farmers. These efforts are consistent with directives issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aiming to improve conditions for crop collection and storage while supporting cereal sector professionals.

Key inaugurations included a local grain storage center in Tissemsilt municipality with a 50,000 quintal capacity and a grain storage silo in Khemisti municipality capable of holding 200,000 quintals. Additionally, the Minister inspected a project for a strategic silo with a substantial 1 million quintal capacity and plans for two more local storage centers. These developments are set to significantly increase the province's capacity for storing this strategic commodity and broaden its network of collection facilities. The visit also saw the commissioning of a 5,000 cubic meter cold storage room, managed by the Mediterranean Refrigeration public enterprise in Khemisti, named after the deceased Mujahid Mohamed Mekaki, dedicated to valuing and preserving agricultural products.

Minister Khaldi emphasized that his visit to Tissemsilt was part of an ongoing assessment of the agricultural sector's reality and its development prospects. He highlighted the significant and promising potential of the region, which he noted requires continued support and accompaniment to realize its full capabilities. These initiatives collectively underscore a commitment to bolstering Algeria's agricultural infrastructure and enhancing national food security.
