Qatar's Power International Accelerates Baladna Infant Milk Project

Algerian Industry Minister Farid Cortel recently met with a high-level delegation from Qatar's Power International Holding to discuss industrial cooperation, particularly focusing on accelerating the "Baladna Algérie" project for infant milk production. The meeting, which included Vocational Training Minister Nassima Arhab, Power International Holding CEO Ramez Al-Khayyat, Qatar's Ambassador to Algeria Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, and other officials, served as an opportunity to review the progress of procedures related to the project's implementation.

The "Baladna Algérie" project is set to address national market needs, enhance local production capabilities, and significantly reduce Algeria's infant milk import bill, thereby strengthening national food security. Minister Cortel affirmed the industry sector's commitment to supporting the project, ensuring coordination among all involved parties, and establishing a balanced and fruitful win-win partnership. Both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultations to finalize implementation procedures as swiftly as possible.

Discussions also highlighted the vital role of the vocational training sector in supporting the project by developing specialized training programs tailored to its requirements. This will contribute to qualifying and providing a skilled Algerian workforce, meeting the project's human resource needs, and fostering local integration. This infant milk venture is part of a broader expansion of economic and investment cooperation between Algeria and Qatar, which also encompasses projects such as the Algerian-Qatari Steel Company in Jijel and the Algerian-Qatari-German Hospital in Sidi Abdellah.
