Sahrawi Front Affirms Self-Determination Process From Algiers

The Polisario Front has affirmed its willingness to engage in a serious political process aimed at achieving a just and lasting settlement for the Sahrawi question. Mohamed Yeslem Beissat, the Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, stated that the front remains open to negotiations with Morocco. This declaration emphasizes guaranteeing the Sahrawi people's inalienable right to self-determination and independence.

Mr. Beissat articulated these conditions following the 8th session of the Diplomatic Forum of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, which convened at the South African Embassy in Algeria. He underscored that any negotiations must adhere to international references and respect the Sahrawi people's freedom to determine their future. The forum itself, attended by representatives from countries friendly to the Sahrawi Republic and chaired by the Zimbabwean ambassador, highlighted ongoing international solidarity with the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination.

The Diplomatic Forum issued a communiqué reaffirming its commitment to express solidarity with the people of Western Sahara and reiterated unwavering support for their cause. It also underscored a determination to strengthen cooperation and coordination to foster peace, stability, and prosperity across the region and the African continent, aligning with Africa's strategic development plan, Agenda 2063. Furthermore, the forum called for an end to the illegal exploitation of Sahrawi resources, respect for international law, and the cessation of human rights violations in the occupied territories.
