Tassili Travail Aérien (TTA), a subsidiary of the Sonatrach group, has completed technical reception procedures for two new Cessna SkyCourier aircraft from American manufacturer Textron Aviation. These aircraft are expected to arrive in Algiers before the end of October. This acquisition marks a significant milestone, as TTA will be the first operator of the Cessna SkyCourier model in Africa, and the first worldwide to feature its specialized air medical evacuation configuration.
The new twin-engine turboprop aircraft are designed for versatile missions, including passenger transport, medical evacuations, and other specialized operations. One of the aircraft is equipped with the LifePort PLUS Powered Medevac System, allowing for rapid reconfiguration from passenger or cargo transport to air medical evacuation missions. This enhancement will contribute to modernizing Tassili Travail Aérien's fleet, improving its operational efficiency, reliability, and supporting the crucial energy sector in Algeria.
Upon arrival, the two Cessna SkyCourier aircraft will be based in Algiers and Hassi Messaoud. This strategic deployment will enable TTA to meet the operational needs of Sonatrach and its partners, particularly for transporting personnel and conducting medical evacuations in remote regions. The United States Embassy in Algeria announced the completion of technical reception on October 14, 2026, highlighting the strength of commercial ties between the two nations and the benefit of advanced American aeronautical technologies for Algeria.
