State Reaffirms National Memory Priority, Honors Diaspora Veterans

Soufiane Chaib, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for the National Community Abroad, remotely participated in celebrations held by consular centers to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the glorious Liberation Revolution. These events served to honor Moudjahidine, veterans of the revolution, residing outside Algeria. Mr. Chaib underscored the sacrifices made by the martyrs and Moudjahidine, acknowledging the crucial historical role the Algerian diaspora played in supporting the Liberation Revolution and advocating for the national cause.

A significant feature of this year's celebrations was the launch of an initiative by the Ministry of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders specifically to recognize Moudjahidine living abroad. The initiative commenced with the presentation of honorary certificates, signed by the Minister of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders, to a number of veterans within the consular districts of Strasbourg, Metz, and Besançon. This gesture of recognition is intended to reflect the state's loyalty and profound gratitude for the sacrifices of the Moudjahidine. The initiative is set to continue periodically and will be expanded to encompass Moudjahidine in various other diplomatic and consular districts globally.

During his address, Secretary Chaib affirmed that preserving national memory and transmitting it to younger generations remains a constant priority for the Algerian state. He highlighted the special attention given by high authorities to safeguarding and valuing this historical legacy. Chaib also emphasized the importance of maintaining and strengthening the robust ties between members of the national community abroad and their homeland. He commended Algerians residing overseas for their unwavering attachment to their country, their loyalty to its glorious history, and their continued dedication to serving the nation from their respective positions.
