Energy Ministers Explore Broadened Algiers-Vienna Gas Ties

Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, held discussions with Austria's Federal Minister for Economy, Energy, and Tourism, Wolfgang Hatmansdorfer, to advance cooperation in natural gas and hydrocarbons. The talks addressed developing collaboration across various stages, including the production, transport, storage, marketing, and distribution of natural gas. Additionally, both ministers explored opportunities to enhance commercial exchanges in crude oil, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and refined products.

The meeting emphasized the importance of hydrocarbon cooperation as a key pillar in the economic relations between Algeria and Austria. Discussions delved into strengthening collaboration in areas such as research, exploration, field development, oil and gas services, maintenance, engineering, and the transfer of technology and expertise. Both sides also encouraged Algerian and Austrian companies to establish partnerships, joint projects, and mutually beneficial investments that add significant value to their respective economies.

Further areas of cooperation were identified, including initiatives focused on reducing emissions and minimizing the carbon footprint. Minister Arkab reiterated the Algerian hydrocarbons sector's commitment to supporting Austrian enterprises interested in expanding their operations and investments within Algeria. He affirmed the sector's readiness to provide favorable conditions for realizing mutually beneficial partnerships, particularly in fields such as technology, engineering, industrial services and solutions, training, and the exchange of expertise.
