Foreign Minister Attaf Holds Talks with UN Chief Guterres

Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, met with Mr. António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations. According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, the meeting served as an opportunity to review the state of international relations and discuss the most prominent challenges facing multilateral work and the United Nations organization, in light of increasing global crises and tensions.

During their discussions, the two sides addressed ongoing efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering security and stability within the Middle East and Gulf region. They also reviewed UN initiatives dedicated to supporting peace and security across the African continent, highlighting the shared commitment to regional stability.

The talks further extended to recent developments in the negotiation process concerning the Western Sahara issue. Both officials explored prospects for advancing the UN track towards a political settlement of the conflict, in alignment with relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
