National People’s Assembly to Vote on Death Penalty for Arson, Kidnapping

The Algerian National People's Assembly (APN) is set to resume its general session to present and discuss a draft amendment to the Penal Code. This proposed legislation specifically includes provisions for implementing the death penalty for individuals convicted of intentional arson and child kidnapping. The session is scheduled to commence at 9 AM.
The Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boumedjema, previously presented the draft amendment to the Penal Code to the APN members on Monday. Following this, the APN office convened a meeting on Tuesday to thoroughly review and study the proposed modifications to the law.
In addition to the Penal Code amendment, the plenary session will also address a draft law concerning military justice, which will be presented, discussed, and put to a vote. This legislative agenda underscores the Algerian government's ongoing commitment to strengthening its legal framework and ensuring public safety through robust measures against serious crimes.
