Global Innovation Index: Algeria Ascends Four Ranks

Algeria has achieved a notable advancement in its results within the 2026 Global Innovation Index, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization. The nation ascended four places compared to its ranking in the previous 2025 edition, according to a statement released by the Ministry of National Education.
This significant progress is particularly evident in several components of the innovation system. Algeria secured the third position globally out of 139 countries in the education index, a key part of the Human Capital and Research pillar, achieving a score of 81.2. Furthermore, the country ranked second worldwide in both the indices measuring spending on education and government funding allocated per secondary student, as detailed in the 2026 Global Innovation Index results.
This strong performance marks a distinct transformation when compared to the 2025 edition, in which Algeria held the 93rd rank in the education index with a score of 43.2. On this occasion, the educational community, through the Ministry of Education, extended its sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic, acknowledging his dedication to education and considering these results a significant gain for the development of the national educational system.
