International Cycling Grand Prix Gathers 20 Teams in Algiers

The 19th International Cycling Grand Prix of Algiers is set to host cyclists representing 20 teams from 15 countries from October 3 to 9. This significant international participation is expected to enhance the global dimension of the competition, which is officially included in the International Cycling Union (UCI) Africa Tour calendar, category 2.2. The Algerian Cycling Federation President, Khireddine Barbar, highlighted the importance of this international involvement, stating that the Algiers International Cycling Grand Prix has become an indispensable event within the international cycling calendar.
Algeria will be represented by six teams, including two continental teams, aiming to deliver a distinctive sporting display within a carefully selected urban setting across Algiers province. The 19th edition features a total course length of 605 kilometers, divided among three distinct sporting events also listed on the Africa Tour calendar: the International Grand Prix, the Algiers Mosque Classic, and the Algiers Classic. These events are designed to offer participants both technical and tactical challenges.
The first stage, spanning 115.12 kilometers, will begin in Rouiba, proceed towards Zemmouri in Boumerdès province, and conclude back in Rouiba. The second stage, covering 134.52 kilometers, will extend from Bab El Oued to Tipaza before finishing in Zeralda. The competition will culminate with a third and final stage, an 11.41-kilometer closed-circuit race over 10 laps in the new city of Sidi Abdellah. This final segment will guide cyclists through major city axes, including the grand ocean road connecting residential and university hubs. Specific event dates include the Algiers Mosque Classic on October 3, stages on October 5, 6, and 7, and the Algiers Classic on October 9.
