Madrid Fruit Fair Yields 8 MOUs, $3 Million Export Contract for Algeria

The latest edition of the International Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition, Fruit Attraction 2026, concluded in Madrid, Spain, yielding significant commercial results for Algerian participants. Supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, ten Algerian economic operators specializing in agricultural and food products attended the event at the IFEMA Madrid exhibition center from October 6 to 8. Their presence, also attended by the Algerian Ambassador to Spain, culminated in a promising commercial outcome.
A key achievement was the signing of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Algerian economic operators and their foreign counterparts. These agreements aim to facilitate the export of Algerian agricultural products to various European markets, thereby opening new opportunities for national products and fostering additional commercial partnerships abroad. Furthermore, an export contract was secured for plastic packaging products destined for the German market, valued at approximately $3 million, indicating increasing external demand for Algerian industrial goods linked to agricultural and food value chains.
This international specialized event provided a crucial platform for promoting Algerian products and showcasing the production and export capabilities of national enterprises. It also served to directly connect Algerian businesses with international, particularly European, markets and distribution networks. Concurrently, the exhibition facilitated a series of initial commercial meetings and communications between Algerian and foreign enterprises, with ongoing efforts to finalize these discussions into future commercial agreements and contracts.
Algeria's participation in Fruit Attraction 2026 aligns with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion's policy to intensify the presence of Algerian enterprises in specialized international economic events. This strategy aims to transform participation in such fairs into concrete commercial opportunities, tangible export contracts, and sustainable partnerships, in accordance with the directives issued by the nation's higher authorities. Algerian operators also gained insights into the latest trends and techniques in agricultural value chains, including logistics, storage, refrigeration, packaging, digital transformation, and smart agriculture, while exploring international cooperation and investment prospects.
