Mobilis Invests Over $200 Million in 4G Modernization

ATM Mobilis S.P.A., Algeria's public mobile operator, is accelerating the modernization of the country's telecommunications infrastructure with a substantial investment exceeding $204 million (over 27.3 billion dinars). Mandated by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Mobilis is deploying the latest generation 4G equipment across 201 sites throughout Algeria. This extensive initiative, formalized by Official Gazette N°68 and a ministerial decree, focuses on eliminating network 'shadow zones' and significantly enhancing service quality for citizens across the nation.

The project is designed to connect sparsely populated areas, secure strategic routes, and introduce advanced technologies to the general public as part of the universal electronic communications service. The Algerian state is providing exceptional financial resources through a dedicated fund to support Mobilis in this endeavor. Investment allocation is tailored to the specific geographical challenges of each site, with more complex locations requiring substantial funding to guarantee high standards of service quality, availability, and continuity for users.

Beyond commercial connectivity, Mobilis's network modernization includes a critical security dimension. The operator is tasked with ensuring the infallible routing of emergency calls across all new antennas. Furthermore, this deployment will serve as a technological launchpad for the Cell Broadcast system, an early warning tool required by the Ministry. This system will enable authorities to transmit instant, geolocated emergency notifications directly to citizens' smartphones in affected areas during natural disasters or major risks. The project's completion is targeted for autumn 2028, with works expected to span 18 to 24 months depending on site complexity, reinforcing Mobilis's role as a vital digital safeguard for the country.
