Murad Calls on Citizens to Stay Vigilant and United to Form a Solid Barrier Against the Nation’s Enemies

Minister of State, Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities Brahim Merad presided over the installation of Abdelouahab Zini as the new wali (governor) of El Tarf province, succeeding Mohamed Mezziane, who has been appointed wali of Béjaïa. The move comes as part of a partial reshuffle of walis decided by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
In his speech, the minister stressed that the province’s natural diversity and border location call for an integrated development vision, based on sound planning and directing investment toward the population’s priorities. He called for serious fieldwork, attentiveness to citizens’ concerns, a fight against bureaucracy, and linking responsibility to results.
He cited major projects in the province, including the Kadiet Edraouch desalination plant and the eastern mining railway project, describing them as a tangible fulfillment of the President’s commitments, a gateway to new investment opportunities and wealth creation, and a “point of no return” on the path to sustainable development.
He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and united to form a solid barrier against the nation’s enemies, stressing that the success of the new phase is a collective responsibility that requires pooling efforts and working as one team.
The ceremony was attended by the two walis, civil, security and military local authorities, elected officials, provincial executives, representatives of the university community and the revolutionary family, local notables, and civil society representatives.
