National Carrier Air Algérie Expands Fleet with New A330neo

Air Algérie has recently taken delivery of its sixth Airbus A330neo aircraft, a key step in its ongoing fleet renewal and expansion program. The national carrier announced the arrival of the new long-haul aircraft, which has been named "Ras El Afia" after a notable lighthouse in Jijel province. This naming choice reflects a commitment to national memory and acknowledges the resilience of the local population.
The A330neo aircraft, designed for long-distance travel, can accommodate over 300 passengers across various travel classes. These modern aircraft are noted for their enhanced fuel efficiency, offering up to a 25 percent reduction in consumption compared to previous generations, alongside decreased carbon dioxide emissions. They also provide contemporary in-flight entertainment systems, including Wi-Fi connectivity. The "Ras El Afia" joins five other Airbus A330neo aircraft already in service, which bear the names "November 54," "Gara Djebilet," "January," "The Community," and "The Fennec."
This latest acquisition is part of a comprehensive fleet modernization and expansion initiative launched by Air Algérie in 2023. The program outlines the procurement of 10 Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, 10 Airbus A330neo aircraft, and 16 ATR 72-600 aircraft. The overarching goal of these efforts is to strengthen the domestic air transport network, develop connections to various destinations, and enhance the operational capabilities of the national airline on both internal and international routes.
