National Constitutional Court Joins Algiers Book Fair for First Time

The Algerian Constitutional Court marks a significant institutional milestone by participating for the first time in the Algiers International Book Fair (SILA), held at the Exhibition Palace at Pins Maritimes in the capital. This inaugural presence at the 29th edition of the fair was highlighted by a visit from Zuhair Nasri, President of the Council of the Nation, who represented the President of the Republic at the opening ceremony. Mr. Nasri toured the Constitutional Court's dedicated pavilion, accompanied by Khalida Bouvdch, President of the People's National Assembly, and Malika Ben Doudah, Minister of Culture and Arts, among other dignitaries.

At its pavilion, the Constitutional Court is showcasing a diverse array of constitutional, scientific, and digital publications. These include the Constitutional Court Review, its periodic newsletter, and various works documenting its decisions and opinions on constitutional control. The exhibition also features collections from national and international meetings, alongside practical publications and foundational texts detailing the Court's missions and competencies. Furthermore, multimedia displays present documentary and institutional films, illustrating the Court's activities and its contributions to the nation.

This participation is part of the Constitutional Court's broader effort to engage with cultural and academic spheres, aiming to disseminate constitutional culture among various segments of society. The initiative seeks to strengthen its institutional and cultural presence, inform the public about its prerogatives and constitutional missions, and enhance awareness of the principles underlying the rule of law and robust institutions, as well as the protection of rights and freedoms. In line with these objectives, the Constitutional Court will also co-organize a thematic conference during the fair with the Council of the Nation and the People's National Assembly, focusing on "The promotion of parliamentary work in light of the 2020 constitutional revision." This session will feature members of the Constitutional Court, including Ammar Abbas, Bouziane Aliane, and moderator Ammar Bouabdallah, alongside parliamentary representatives.
