APN President, Minister Honor Diaspora’s National Role

The President of the People's National Assembly (APN) commemorated the sacrifices of the martyrs of 17 October 1961, emphasizing the Algerian community's vital role abroad for the service of the homeland. Concurrently, the Minister of Moudjahidine and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tacherift, speaking in Boumerdes, underscored how the 17 October 1961 demonstrations in France serve as a reminder of the heroic struggle waged by Algerian emigrants in exile to advance the national cause. These statements were made during official celebrations marking National Emigration Day, held to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the demonstrations.

Minister Tacherift further affirmed the pioneering role played by the national diaspora in the ongoing process of comprehensive development and national renewal. He highlighted President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's initiatives that have granted the diaspora a strategic position, actively involving them in the battle for national renewal and Algeria's sustainable development. The Minister underscored the President's commitment to national memory, considering it a paramount priority that receives significant attention, as evidenced by the expansion of the Moudjahid museum map nationwide.

Commemorative projects tied to national memory, including the construction of memorials, restoration of historical sites, and continuous care for the graves of martyrs, reflect a commitment to the sacrifices made by martyrs and Moudjahidine. The Minister noted that the 17 October 1961 event was not merely a transient occurrence but a popular uprising by the Algerian community abroad, driven by deep legal, organizational, and ethical principles. The official ceremonies also honored members of the National Liberation Front (FLN) Federation in France and Algerian activists residing abroad, recognizing their role as creators and preservers of this historical milestone, dedicated to transmitting its values to future generations.
