National Single Investment Window Set for January 2027 Launch

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune recently revealed the existence of 13,000 real investment projects currently underway in Algeria. These projects signify a robust period of economic activity and growth within the nation. The President also confirmed that the national single investment window, a key reform initiative, is scheduled to become operational on January 1, 2027. This pivotal reform aims to streamline procedures for investors and improve the overall business climate, thereby attracting further national and foreign investments.

The single investment window is designed as a pioneering entity, endowed with the necessary authority to make investment-related decisions. Its implementation is expected to significantly simplify administrative processes and provide comprehensive support to investors. President Tebboune highlighted Algeria's considerable economic recovery in recent years, noting a strategic shift from an economy heavily reliant on hydrocarbon revenues and imports towards one focused on diversifying production and enhancing inter-sectoral integration. These efforts have positioned Algeria as Africa's third-largest economy.

Further illustrating the nation's progress, Algeria has successfully ceased imports of gasoline and jet fuel, with the upcoming Hassi Messaoud refinery projected to eliminate diesel imports entirely. The pharmaceutical sector has also achieved significant milestones, with local production now meeting 84 percent of national demand, including complex medications for chronic diseases. Contributions to the national GDP have seen increases, with industry growing by 10 percent and agriculture by 15 percent. Looking ahead, Algeria is actively pursuing self-sufficiency in grains by the end of 2027 and aims to produce a fully Algerian-made vehicle by late 2028, contingent on successful partnerships. These indicators underscore Algeria's evolving productive capabilities and its dedication to reducing import expenditures, with 2027 identified as a crucial year for consolidating a strong national economy.
