Prime Minister Ghrieb Directs Key National Development Meeting

A government meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, convened to review and discuss several strategic national files. Key items on the agenda included the proposed mechanism for calculating and evaluating the integration rate in the manufacturing of heavy and light vehicles, as well as mobile phones. This initiative aims to establish a robust national industry beyond traditional assembly, focusing on local production, technology transfer, skill development, and strengthening the sub-contracting network to reduce import dependency.

The government also assessed the ongoing implementation of the national strategy for preventing and combating drugs and psychotropic substances for the period 2025-2029, a year after its launch. This comprehensive plan, rooted in anticipation, deterrence, and care, follows presidential directives. Field results of the action plan were presented, emphasizing the need for monthly evaluations of its effectiveness and adaptability to the evolving landscape of organized crime. The strategy also highlights the crucial role of civil society involvement and enhanced international cooperation in combating this scourge.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the practical steps and progress regarding the construction of the El Ménéa-Tamanrasset railway line. In line with directives issued by the President during a recent Council of Ministers meeting, the project is set to commence from Tamanrasset. This significant infrastructure development underscores the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth across the nation's southern regions.
