Winifred Muller, Friend of Algerian Revolution, Honored by Museum

The National Moudjahid Museum in Algeria recently organized a historical conference to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the passing of Winifred Muller, famously known as "Si Mustapha." A dedicated friend and militant of the Algerian Revolution, Muller's journey and significant contributions to the Glorious Liberation Revolution were discussed during the event. Salima Thabet, the manager of the National Moudjahid Museum, highlighted that this commemoration serves as an opportunity to recall the crucial support Muller provided to the esteemed revolution.

Muller was a key figure in psychological warfare operations during the Liberation Revolution, notably convincing more than 4300 foreign legion recruits within the French army to abandon their involvement in the war in Algeria. His daughter, Rachida Muller, recounted her father's militant path, detailing his enrollment with the National Liberation Front (FLN) where he transported essential documents and weapons. Muller's dedication also led him to participate in the "Johnson network," a system that facilitated the transfer of vital materials for the revolutionaries, and he remarkably survived two assassination attempts orchestrated by the French "Red Hand" organization.

Following Algeria's independence, Muller continued his contributions to the nation's development by working as a translator in the Ministry of Information and authoring numerous historical books. He was granted Algerian nationality in recognition of his efforts. During the commemoration, Rachida Muller generously presented the National Moudjahid Museum with a collection of historical photographs and documents belonging to her father, which were subsequently exhibited for the first time.
