Algiers – During a Council of Ministers meeting on Monday, January 13, 2025, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune issued directives emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance to safeguard market availability and prevent disruptions during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
According to a statement from the Council, the President, after reviewing a joint ministerial presentation on preparations for Ramadan, stressed the importance of:
- Remaining vigilant against any attempts to disrupt market supply chains.
- Updating and intensifying monitoring systems to ensure market stability.
- Combating speculation and profiteering by enforcing the strictest legal penalties on violators.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring food security and protecting consumers during Ramadan, a period of high demand.
