Chinese Interest in Collaboration with Algeria for Green Hydrogen Production

On Tuesday, Secretary of State for Renewable Energies, Nourredine Yassa, hosted He Hong San, Executive Vice President of the Chinese energy company “CPECC,” at the Ministry of Energy headquarters. The meeting was also attended by senior ministry officials.

According to a statement from the ministry, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation, exploring investment opportunities, and fostering partnerships between Algerian energy sector companies and CPECC. Key topics included local manufacturing along the renewable energy value chain, the development of green hydrogen, and the production and transmission of electricity.

The two sides reviewed potential collaboration on clean energy projects. He Hong San expressed CPECC’s strong interest in investing in these initiatives through public-private partnership models, emphasizing the critical role such investments play in boosting Algeria’s economic development and enhancing its capacity in renewable energy.

Additionally, He Hong San highlighted CPECC’s readiness to bring its extensive expertise to the implementation of energy projects meeting global standards. He also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to collaborating with Algeria on green hydrogen production and advancing technology transfer in these cutting-edge fields.
